Amy Lancaster established Lancaster Architects after 20 years at award-winning real estate and architectural firms. On that strong foundation, she built a practice that celebrates the stories and missions of spaces through design. From a high-tech exhibition space in a historic landmark in Washington, DC, to the first office space for a fast-growing startup, the firm is recognized for its collaborative engagement with clients and for designs that have enduring impact for their long-term goals.
Hi… I’m Amy, Lead Architect & Owner
A little bit about me… Before starting Lancaster Architects, I worked at OTJ Architects and Washington Real Estate Investment Trust. My work includes commercial spaces, multimedia conferencing centers, performing arts centers, and innovative exhibition design. At STUDIOS Architecture, I worked on the construction administration of a 700,000 sf multifamily development in Virginia.
My husband and I live on Capitol Hill with our beautiful daughters.

Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania
Undergraduate degree, also completed at Penn, focusing on a cross-section of the design disciplines (Architecture, Landscape Architecture, City Planning) combined with Environmental and Earth Sciences.
Eugene A. Kohn Fellow from 1999-2002, won the E. Lewis Dales Traveling Fellowship, and the GSFA Merit Award from 1999 to 2002.
Expertise working with local public and private jurisdictional authorities, such as DCRA, DDOT, National Capitol Planning Commission, Architect of the Capitol, the DC Office of Planning, Office of Zoning, and the Historic Review Board.
